We were drawn to Lifestyle Fitness by the same things that draw everyone else here: the close proximity to our home, the great equipment, the adults only policy, etc.  What has kept us here is more important -- LFC has a true feeling of community and we've made great friends!  I know that Scott, Ken, Milli, Tina, Shannon and all the other folks at LFC are truly concerned about my health and well-being.  I'm so very appreciative of that.  Thank you, everyone,  I love you guys!

My friend told me about how great the place is and took me to see it.  The fact that it's not huge, overwhelming, and crowded was--and still is--a big plus for me.  Having diagrams and instructions on the machines, along with the printed programs to follow helped me feel capable of handling a workout independently.  All the trainers have been so friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, and the other members seem to be people I can relate to.  I appreciate the efforts to help the members become acquainted and encourage one another.  And the price was right.

After working out of state for almost 4 years, I was relocated back to Texas to a job in the Woodlands. I was looking for a gym close by. Lifestyle is just a short drive from work and home for me. My other alternatives were some "big box" gyms in the area. But, a "big box" gym is so crowded. I love the quiet atmosphere at Lifestyle. At Lifestyle, I do not have to wait in line for equipment and can work out in peace.

About a month before my daughter was born, I weighed 184. Leading up to her birth, and the first few months afterwards, there was simply no time to work out. By the time I got back into the gym in January, I weighed 205. I not only needed to get back in shape, but I needed to be able to work out in the shortest amount of time possible so that I can spend more time at home with my newborn daughter. My goal is to get to a weight of 175 and be able to maintain this weight.

I work out 5 days a week, alternating between cardio and weights. Every once in a while I get so busy, I can only make it 4 days. On those weeks, I plan to do a little extra on those 4 days to make up for missing the 5th day. My weight workouts also incorporate cardio to keep my heart rate up. The workouts I use were demonstrated to me by Scott during a weeklong crash course personal training session. These workouts are more compact than the ones I used to do, allowing me more free time after work. If I have time, I end each session with 500 jump rope reps to get a little extra cardio in. I do abs on the same day I do weights, which is 2 or 3 times a week. I also run 45 minutes one day each weekend in lieu of a cardio workout at the gym.

My wife joined several weeks before I did and she asked if I wanted to become her work out buddy. How could I refuse an offer like that? Also, I have known Scott and Ken for a number of years and was very comfortable to be at their facility.

My initial goal was to just get into better shape. About three months ago, my goal changed to a more intentional workout to achieve tangible results. I intend to lose twenty-five pounds over the next twelve months and run a 5K race before the end of 2009.

My original approach was to ease into "getting into shape". I started doing some basic cardio on the treadmill. Started out walking, then jogging, and finally climbing. Then I graduated to the bikes and even began to use the arc. I also casually used the weight machines. I started out exercising three to five days a week. Around the end of the year three of us (Ray, Bruce and myself) talked about having Scott becoming our personal trainer.  We have used Scott for three months and have enjoyed the workouts. Looking back to May of 2008, I was just generally getting into good enough condition to allow a more intentional workout program. Since January weights have become a permanent part of the routine on Monday and Wednesday. Cardio workouts are for Tuesday and Thursday. Core workouts are typically Monday through Thursday. Friday mornings we have a light core and/or  cardio workout. Now I try to work out five days a week and then ease into the weekend. I love to eat and am working on portions control. I am trying to eat more salads and fewer fast food meals.

My general condition has improved greatly. My strength has also improved. My weight has gradually decreased while my energy level has increased.

I had been thinking of starting an exercise program--I finally realized whining wasn't going to give me better muscle tone, lower my cholesterol, or build bone density. I mentioned to a friend that I wanted to begin an exercise program and she recommended Lifestyle Fitness. Everything she said about it appealed to me--a place that is clean, adults who want to adopt a healthier lifestyle and owners and instructors who encourage and challenge us. After talking to Ken, I was sold! I joined with my sister-in-law.

I don't want to look or act my age--I want to be able to run and play with my grandchildren and do things I did years ago. One of my goals was to be able to stand on my head like my 8-year old granddaughter. Of course my son said "that is a strange goal!"

I like the different classes that are offered--the BOSU class has helped me have better balance and core strength, and the body sculpting and cardio classes are part of my weekly routine. I make sure I take advantage of the classes and equipment.

I have been coming for a year now and can see better muscle tone, more stamina and a general better feeling. It took a lot of core strengthening classes, but I can now stand on my head! I can pull weeds for a longer period of time and lift and move things without getting so sore.  I recommend Lifestyle Fitness to everyone! I actually look forward to exercising and being challenged by the instructors.

I heard about Scott at my church, met him and liked him. I was interested in having a personal trainer help me meet my goals--and I wanted someone that was very competent and that I could trust. I wanted a location that was near my home that provided exceptional personal service, and was not too big.

When I hit my 40's I noticed my health started deteriorating slowly. I had high blood pressure and thyroid problems. I had two back surgeries (2002; 2006) and so I want to do everything I could to avoid additional problems in the future. My goals include losing weight, strengthening my core, increasing my flexibility, and improving my diet. I want to improve my metabolism as much as I possibly can.

Scott and I sat down and talked through a number of issues, including my goals, the amount of time I could devote on a weekly basis, general health issues, diet, etc. Since my job requires me to travel regularly and I could not devote more than two days per week for training sessions, I realized that my timeline would need to be a little longer (3 year plan). I work out with Scott on Mondays and Fridays involving a mix of cardio, machines, weights, and stretching. While we work out, we talk about diet and other health issues. On the other days of the week or when traveling, I try and ride a stationary bike 20-45 minutes. When possible, I try to add a third workout during the week with Scott.

I have lost weight (12 lbs) while increasing strength and stamina. My core is significantly stronger than it has ever been before, which has greatly improved any pain associated with my back. My energy levels are higher and I feel better than I ever have as an adult.

I knew Ken and Scott and about their vision for a fitness center for adults before they designed and built Lifestyle. I really liked the idea of a gym that provided an atmosphere of fitness for adults only. I think they did a terrific job. I really like the fact that the staff knows the members and makes them feel welcome. At Lifestyle Fitness, you're treated like family.

My primary goal is to become more physically fit. My health is important to me and becoming more physically fit is the way to improve and maintain my health.

About a year ago I started doing personal training twice a week with Scott. I've just recently gotten into a routine of doing cardio (arc trainer) two to three times per week in addition to the weight training I'm doing. As for my eating habits, I try to eat three meals per day (including protein and vegetables) and choose healthy snacks if I have a snack.

Since I started working out 4-5 times per week, I've started to notice that my clothes are fitting a little looser. I realize that the process is slow and that's okay. Lasting change in any aspect of a person's life does not happen overnight and it's very important not to be impatient. I try to take it one day at a time.

I have found the personal training invaluable. I have learned a great deal about my muscle system. I have also been continuously challenged to improve what seems like every muscle in my body. Scott makes sure I work on both cardio and strength every workout. I have commented to Scott on several occasions that there are times during my workout that I am exhausted and challenged to the limit…but I have never completed a workout, cooled down and walked out to my car without feeling fantastic. That is what keeps me coming back even on training mornings when I am feeling sluggish. Today, I stand up much straighter, have more energy and am actually much stronger than I have been in years.

I did lose the weight I wanted ... (more would have been nicer, but I am still working on that!). I just feel better about myself, both mentally and physically. I am firming up in some places and need to keep working on others. I found that the classes seem to vary things up a bit as reluctant as I was to try any of them at first. I must say my husband is very proud that I have been keeping it up. He had his doubts when I first started!

I was tired of seeing more inches going to my waist and was becoming too winded doing simple project around the house. Additionally, I was a "Baby Boomer Couch Potato" and wanted to make a change in how I looked and felt. Lifestyle was also close to home, which permitted easy access in the early mornings and weekends.

From the first year of using the gym, I have already lost over 30 pounds and have come to the realization that in order to maintain my current conditioning as well as setting a short term goal of taking off at least one more inch from my waist, this type of structure is something that I will have to do for the rest of my life because it is hard to find any other way to increase my worn out metabolism.

The workout atmosphere at Lifestyle makes one want to succeed. It is what a fitness facility should be. I look forward to working out – I do not consider it something I have to do. Lifestyle makes me want to do it.

One thing Ken said was that you have to do different things to make the body work at its best. You cannot do the same thing all the time and expect results. I have been there, done that. Figured now was the time to try it his way. Could not believe the difference. How right he is. One result I have seen is my clothes fitting better. I actually like taking something out of the closet that I have not worn for a while because it did not fit – to find it is now big on me. That alone helps motivate me to continue. My flexibility and stamina has greatly improved in the few short months I have been working out at Lifestyle. I am an avid gardener and my muscles do not hurt like they used to. I have more agility dealing with the different garden levels I have in my yard. Recently I was in one of Ken’s classes and he had us do push-ups. After we were done I mentioned to Milli that this was the first time I actually did push-ups on my toes. I honestly felt I would always do the push-ups on my knees. Well, I guess anything can happen!!

I can now run 5 miles in less than 45 minutes. I have lost a couple of pounds, but more importantly, I have converted a significant amount of my body mass from fat to muscle.

        Bill  (Member since 2005)

Although not a goal, I have lost several pounds. I feel stronger physically and my friends have noticed a difference!

        Jane  (Member since 2007)

The top draws for me were the hours of operation (so I could come early) and the cost.  I actually lost nearly 25 pounds while increasing strength and endurance. I had my best year ever at fantasy baseball camp with the Chicago White Sox and my recovery has been MUCH easier. My enjoyment, commitment and consistency of workouts have all improved. In the past (on my own) I would go through workout "phases" for a few months at a time. Scott, Ken and my new workout buddies now keep me coming very consistently each week. I appreciate learning new exercises and simple instructions to vary my workout to continue to see results.

I met Scott at Church and felt that he was a sincere man – so I decided to see what type of operation he ran. After visiting the facility and meeting the staff I realized that this was a place I could start the process to wellness, as it involves more than just mirrors and weights – to change your life you need to change those conditions and/or situations that are stumbling blocks to a healthy attitude. Lifestyle Fitness provides the necessary atmosphere to feel connected to an individual program of health awareness. In other words, I enjoy going and working out! I have lost some 40 pounds, 3 inches in the waist, and 50 pounds of body fat

I do not have a specific goal that I am working towards, but do want to continue increasing intensity and strength. Even on the mornings that I drag myself out of bed, I always feel better afterwards and am glad I made the effort to show up. There are not many people working out at 5:30 am, but it is nice to see the other early morning regulars and it helps feel like I am part of a group doing this together.
